The EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini, told the press on Wednesday that the Balkans region is crucial for the EU in terms of security, prevention of radicalization and management of borders during the refugee crisis.
Mogherini said that she and the prime ministers of six Balkan countries will talk at tonight’s meeting about intensifying cooperation and the situation in the region. The meeting will be attended by the heads of governments of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
Serbian Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government will spend 2.5 million dinars (close to 22,900 US dollars) on a campaign to fix the broken image of Municipal police, an outfit known for numerous incidents, reports the Serbian portal Insajder.
Since it was established under the previous, Democratic Party led government in 2010, the Municipal police was involved in physical altercations with street salesmen and citizens on public transport. On occasions they had prevented journalists from reporting and taken NGO activists into custody, Insajder reports.
